What we do ...
- At the Program, personal strengths are emphasized while physical, mental and emotional disabilities are offset through the association with the horse.
- The physical and emotional benefits of equine facilitated therapy and therapeutic horseback riding have long been acknowledged. The motion of the horse stimulates and tones the muscles, and the mere act of getting on a horse and entering a relationship with the animal promotes not only happiness and a sense of empowerment, but even more importantly, brings out the strengths that lie within the rider.
- The head instructor and a physical or occupational therapist construct an individual lesson plan for each student to assure the highest quality experience while in the program. Through a variety of horse-related activities, our riders realize many benefits that can include greater confidence, self-awareness, increased balance, muscle strength and self-esteem.
The San Juan Riding Program offers a summer program that includes small group, individual riding lessons, trail rides for independent riders and Hippotherapy.
